Community Development Update: Progress and Future Plans

The feedback and kind words received after our last development blog post have been greatly appreciated. We are excited to continue sharing updates with the community, especially as we embark on new features and content. The team remains dedicated to finding solutions and is actively listening to the community's input, valuing the efforts made to report bugs and feature requests.

Update on Community Missions

The response to our initial community mission has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are currently compiling your feedback for versions 1.59 and 1.6. It has been heartening to read the messages from explorers across the globe, which have been shared throughout the universe with all players. Specialist Polo is investigating a peculiar new phase of galactic generation. Last week’s collective digging efforts have yielded a significant stockpile of hexagonal cores for experimentation, presenting several promising leads. What secrets do these cores hold, and what messages do they convey to the universe?

As research continues, Polo's focus has shifted to biology. Starting from Thursday, September 6, they will reach out to all explorers once again for assistance in documenting changes occurring in the fabric of reality. This research project aims to locate and nurture creatures on a planet showing signs of prior contamination by the hexagonal core. Dedicated travelers studying the diets of the planet's wildlife will be rewarded with Vif Argent to spend at the merchant located in the anomaly. Polo encourages explorers to pursue their own research projects or refinements across all exploreable worlds.

New Products from the Anomaly Merchant

The anomaly merchant has also developed an exciting range of new products:

  • A fresh lineup of basic building items. Travelers can gain favor with the Gek or Sentinels by constructing grand metal statues around their homes.
  • The stylish Blazing Orbit helmet, available as a fully customizable option for your "Anomaly" race character.
  • A pair of heartfelt decals featuring Nada and Polo themselves, perfect for decorating your base.
  • A new "laugh" emote, allowing travelers to express joy.

The anomaly merchant is committed to pleasing its masters by creating a diverse array of new items tailored to their desires. Significant new developments will appear in the shop over the coming weeks, alongside new ways to earn VIF Argent through gameplay.

Future Plans

Plans are in place to introduce new attack behaviors for biological horrors...

We will also activate terrain tessellation on PS4 (base and Pro) and Xbox One X. This new dynamic tessellation allows for detailed height maps without sacrificing performance.

New customization options for body shape have been added to the appearance modifier, granting players better control over their appearance in the universe, thus enhancing the diversity and variety of characters across all races.

Based on community feedback, we have added the ability for PC players to set keyboard shortcuts for quick access to options in the quick menu. This allows players to bind frequently used functions, such as switching to third person, using their flashlight, or entering photo mode to numeric keys (or to mice with multiple buttons).

As we continue our development, a larger portion of the team will be available to work on new features. We aim to involve the community in shaping these features and hope to share part of this plan with you in the coming weeks. Thank you for being with us as we further develop No Man’s Sky NEXT, and we hope you enjoy all the improvements and expansions to the game that are on the horizon. Sean
