Skywatcher N 250/1200 Telescope Review: A Stellar Choice for Deep Sky Observers

The Skywatcher N 250/1200 telescope, a Newtonian design, stands out as an exceptional instrument for enthusiasts eager to delve into deep sky observation. Its substantial aperture enables the viewing of galaxies and nebulae, and it was through this telescope that I first caught a glimpse of distant galaxies.

I had the opportunity to test the GOTO NEQ-6 version, which comes equipped with a remote control. Once set up, the GOTO system operates flawlessly, making the experience of astronomy significantly more accessible. With most celestial objects cataloged in the hand controller, selecting a target is as simple as a few clicks, and the telescope will automatically adjust to point at the chosen object.

In my opinion, the 250 model is a must-have for serious deep sky enthusiasts looking to elevate their astronomical pursuits. Having compared it to 400mm Dobson telescopes under similar conditions, I found the difference in viewing through the eyepiece to be minimal when observing the same celestial body.

In conclusion, my assessment of this telescope is that it is ideally suited for seasoned astronomers. When paired with a camera, it becomes an excellent tool for astrophotography. With the GOTO feature, even children can operate it and enjoy a high level of astronomical exploration. Although the price is on the higher side, around €2100, for a passionate astronomer, it represents a worthwhile investment.
