Exploring Namibia's Ornithological Wonders
On the last day of our trip, we explored the Pam Rocks and observed a variety of birds, including milans and Abdim storks, while also experiencing unique wildlife encounters.
The final full day of our vacation took us close to Windhoek, where our accommodation awaited. Along the route, two distinctive mountains known as the Pam Rocks emerged on our right side, drawing our attention.
Suddenly, we were compelled to stop as hundreds of milans circled above us, accompanied by a significant number of Abdim storks. This spectacle was captivating, and we took some time to observe the scene. Clearly, a wealth of nutritious insects was present, providing ample sustenance for these birds of prey.
We made an additional stop at the Bach Dam. While dams in Namibia typically serve as recreational areas, this particular visit was not particularly remarkable. However, we were pleased to find some water on the dry side, creating a surprisingly lush environment. We seized the opportunity to embark on a short ornithological walk in this verdant setting.
Later at our accommodation, we encountered an unexpected wildlife highlight: a sand snake had caught a lizard, which appeared far from pleased with its predicament.
Just 15 minutes later, the scene had transformed dramatically.
